Egypt's grand mufti says Islam is religion of peace, co-existence

Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam said that the Islam
is a religion of building, peace, coexistence and stability.
Allam was speaking on Tuesday at the 1st
International Muslim Communities Congress, which held in the UAE capital, Abu
Dhabi, to address the challenges faced by Muslim minorities around the world.
Islam is the first religion, which issued the
principles of co-existence and citizenship, the grand mufti noted, pointing out
that the Prophet Muhammad issued "Constitution of Medina", which
spread mercy and tolerance among several groups.
He stressed that citizenship is an important
principle of building societies and co-existence within a framework of the
values of justice and equality.
Egypt, in its laws, issued the principle of
citizenship among its people, he said, noting that all Egyptians are equal
before the law.
