Putin Says Has Not Seen Signs of US Withdrawal from Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that
his country has not witnessed major changes that indicate the United States was
preparing to withdraw its troops from Syria.
Speaking from Sochi during a summit that brought
together the presidents of Turkey and Iran, he added that US President Donald
Trump was attempting to fulfill his electoral pledges, but he is not always
able to meet them due to “internal” political affairs.
The Sochi summit, he continued, tackled the impact
of the US pullout from northeastern Syria will have on the rest of the country.
Putin revealed that the summit welcomed the
withdrawal, hoping that it will mark a positive turning point that will help
pave the way to stability.
Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also agreed to bolster cooperation within the
framework of the Astana process on Syria.
