Sisi does his best to find solutions to Egypt's problems, says French journalist
Veteran French journalist Gilbert Sinuet said
Wednesday that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi did his best to find
solutions to the problems facing Egypt.
"We only want Egypt to be more open to its
political parties," Sinuet said.
He added at a seminar on human rights organized by
the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris that the French people do not want
the Muslim Brotherhood to return to power in Egypt.
The Brotherhood, he said, controlled the political
life in the country.
"The Arab world goes through a tough time and
it needs to allow more freedoms and free speech," Sinuet said.
Titled "Human Rights at the Time of the War on
Terrorism and Social Crises: Between Idealism and Realism", the seminar is
moderated by Ahmed Youssef, CEMO's executive director.
Speaking at the seminar – apart from Sinuet – was
also Member of the House of Deputies, the Chairman of the Center for Middle
East Studies in Paris and the Board Chairman of al-Bawaba News Abdel Rahim Ali.
General Robert Pryce, the former commander of French
troops in Yugoslavia, the former director of the Anfalid military museum, and
the current president of the Napoleon Foundation, also spoke in the seminar.
Roland Lombardi from the French National Institute
for Studies and Research of the Islamic and Arab Worlds is also expected to
speak in the same event.
