Al-Shabab attacks Turkish base in Mogadishu

Somali
Islamist militant group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for bombarding the
Turkish military base in Mogadishu on Saturday.
"Al-Shabab
US and Turkish soldiers, and from anywhere, are all alike. They are all
conquerors who fight Shariah (Islamic law). Therefore, we should fight them all
of them ," Abdulaziz Abu Musab, the group's spokesperson, said in a statement,
a copy of which was obtained by THE REFERENCE.
However,
Karam Said, a researcher of Turkish affairs, said the attack is a maneuver by
al-Shabab group to get more support from government which back terrorism.
"Turkey's
relations with takfiri groups are complicated as it seeks to expand its
presence in Africa," Said told THE REFERENCE.
