46 terrorists killed, 15 hideouts destroyed in northern, central Sinai – army

Anti-terror troops killed 46 terrorists and
destroyed 15 hideouts in northern and central Sinai, Military Spokesman Colonel
Tamer el Refai said Monday.
The Armed Forces targeted terrorist elements based
on intelligence information and destroyed 15 hideouts with large quantities of
weapons and ammunition inside, he said.
Tools used in the manufacturing of explosives were
also seized inside, he added.
The military spokesman said 31 vehicles used by
terrorist operatives were destroyed and 17 others were seized.
Also, 14 unlicensed motorbikes were seized during
the operation, he added. Some 100 criminals and wanted persons were arrested.
Military engineers discovered 204 explosive devices,
mortar shells and RPGs. They uncovered and destroyed 10 tunnels along the
borders in Rafah.
Also, border guards in cooperation with police and army
forces destroyed 244 feddans cultivated with poppy plant, he said.
They seized 2 tons of bango and one million narcotic
pills.
Three soldiers were killed in confrontations with
terrorist elements, the spokesman said.
The army and police vow to continue efforts to
eradicate terrorism and uproot it on all strategic fronts of the state, he
added.
