Trial of 44 defendants in Wilayat Sinai case delayed till March 20

The Cairo Criminal Court decided on Sunday to
postpone the trial of 44 defendants in "Wilayat Sinai cell" case till
March 20.
The defendants face charges of setting up seven
cells under the terrorist group known as "Wilayat Sinai" with the aim
of committing terrorist crimes, assaulting police and army men, attempting to
disrupt public order by force and vandalizing public property.
They are also charged with financing terrorist
crimes and illegally possessing weapons and ammunition.
Wilayat Sinai is the self-proclaimed name of the
terrorist group formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which declared
allegiance to Daesh terrorist group in November 2014.
