Security measures taken over 6 months
In its mid-year report submitted to the Parliament,
the Cabinet stated the achievements ofthe Egyptian Armed Forces and the police
in the realm of countering terrorism and combating crime over the past six
months.
The Comprehensive Operation - Sinai 2018 has
continued.
A comprehensive security strategy was executed to
intensify information collection, launch precautionary operations against
terrorists' hideouts and unveil perpetrators of terror attacks.
International cooperation in the sector of security
has expanded to exchange information, and recover looted artifacts and wanted
individuals.
A total of 1,500 criminal cases have been solved.
Some 725 gangs consisting of 2,309 defendants were
uncovered.
Unlicensed firearms and bladed weapons were
confiscated. Unlicensed arms workshops were unveiled. The total is 22,800
lawsuits.
The first edition of the Egyptian Defense Expo(EDEX)
was held in Cairo where 300 firms from 41 countries took part.
