Naval Forces seize drug-smuggling boat with 8 tons of hashish on board

Elements of Naval Forces, in cooperation with
security bodies at the Interior Ministry seized a drug-smuggling boat, with
more than 8 tons of hashish stashed on board.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Armed Forces said
that acting on a tip-off, the General Department for Drug Control monitored the
suspected fishing boat while sailing from Baltim in Kafr El Sheikh governorate
en route to the northern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
After a chase in the sea the boat was caught and its
crew arrested.
In Ras El Hekma area, the Naval Forces also
intercepted and seize a fishing boat with 55,000 packages of counterfeit
cigarettes on board. They arrested its six-member crew, the statement added.
