Court sets April 30 to issue verdict in trial of of MB businessman Hassan Malek, 23 others

The Supreme State Security Emergency Court on
Tuesday decided to issue its verdict in the trial of Hassan Malek, a
businessman affiliated to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB), his son and 22
other defendants on April 30.
The 24 defendants are accused of joining a terrorist
group and plotting a scheme to harm the national economy through hoarding hard
currency and smuggling it abroad.
They also face charges of planning to assault police
and army personnel.
Earlier, the Supreme State Security Prosecution had
issued an arrest warrant against Malek and searched his house, where a number
of publications showing plots to harm the national economy, attack police and
army personnel and target the tourism industry were found.
The prosecutors had found a publication that
included a list of US, UAE and Saudi companies working in Egypt, as well as a
map of natural gas lines in the country with the aim to carry out terror
attacks against these targets
