Yemeni gov't sends message of rejection to UN envoy

The Yemeni government rejected what it considered
"transgression" by UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths over
starting a discussion about ship inspection at the Yemeni port of Hodeidah
instead of Djibouti.
The rejection came after a meeting between Houthi
leaders and UN officials in charge of the UN mechanism for inspection.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled Yamani sent a message
to the UN envoy wondering about this meeting and considering practices by UN
officials who attended the meeting as "irresponsible."
The top diplomat asked for a written explanation for
what is happening in addition to assurances to avoid the repetition of such
action.
Yamani also called on the UN envoy to adhere to
authorities given to the UN mission, warning that the government will take all
needed legal measures against any other transgressions.
Yamani added that getting the UN to play a pivotal
role in inspecting the Red Sea Yemeni ports hinges on putting Stockholm
agreement into effect, as well as Hodeidah deal which calls for the withdrawal
of Houthis.
He added that the agreements do not allow dealing
with Houthi militias.
