Al-Azhar slams US statement Golan Heights
Al-Azhar condemned on Friday the US administration's
statement on recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan
Heights.
In a statement, the highest Islamic Sunni
institution said such words represent a green light for occupation authorities
to usurp Arab lands and defy UN resolutions which stressed that Golan Heights
are occupied lands.
“Golan Heights is a Syrian land under usurping
occupation,” AL-Azhar affirms
AL-Azhar Al-Sharif condemns the U.S.
Administration’s proclamation of the Zionist entity’s sovereignty over the
Golan Heights, and further views this proclamation as an unprecedented step of
legitimating the claims of a usurping authority in such a way that disregards
the sentiments of Arabs and Muslims and bypasses the international resolutions
that affirm that the Golan Heights is a Syrian land under occupation and
disapprove all the Zionist procedures thereto.
All the Israeli measures related to Golan are
illegal, it added.
