Azhar-Vatican document commended at Bibliotheca Alexandrina seminar

Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted on Thursday a seminar
on a document on human fraternity that was signed between Al Azhar and the
Vatican in the United Arab Emirates in February.
The seminar - held within the framework of the
Alexandria International Book Fair - was attended by general coordinator of
Azhar's dialogue among religions Kamal Breiqa, General Bishop and President of
the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center Bishop Ermia and the library's
communication director Sameh Fawzi.
The library's communication director Sameh Fawzi
said the document highlights the relations among religions, dialogue and
coexistence.
He underlined the key role played by Al Azhar in
activating the dialogue with the other and promoting unity.
Meanwhile, Bishop Ermia said the document underlines
the importance of freedom and people's right to be free without harming others.
He added that hatred emerges from lack of knowledge
about the other so that the document came to highlight common values and
perspectives among religions.
General coordinator of Azhar's dialogue among
religions Kamal Breiqa said there are proposals to merge such document into
educational curricula to promote the values of dialogue and fraternity among
children.
