SDF’s destiny after eliminating Daesh, dice roll on int’l table

A new challenges has emerged
before the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) after eliminating Daesh, which lies
in the future of the resistance group that was formed by the United States in
October 2015 to fight and eliminate Daesh.
The SDF is currently in a state
of confusion as the United States achieved its purpose of eliminating Daesh,
raising questions about its future in the region.
After weeks of heavy fighting,
the tent camp where Daesh had made its final stand in the village of Baghouz
was bombed to shreds.
Half buried in the dirt was a
tattered shred of Daesh’s infamous black flag, while a giant yellow flag
belonging to the SDF fluttered atop a shell-pocked building.
The beginning of SDF dates back
to the end of 2015, specifically in October, when the Syrian scene was full of
militias that identified themselves based on national or religious identities,
therefore, the United States sought to bring a secular armed force to prepare
for a Syrian state that would embrace all religions and identities.
Therefore, many Arabs and
Armenians joined the SDF, which was provided with heavy and mid-range weapons
to aid the group in the fight against Daesh.
The US uses these forces as a
front to deny its ties with the militias with religious ideologies, which
became known of their brutal practices.
The SDF, a US-backed alliance of
Kurdish and Arab fighters, has been claiming that it is the representatives of
the people - of all the minorities and races - from Arabs to Kurds to Turkmen.
Lieutenant General Stephen
Townsend also always referred to the SDF as, “Our forces.”
The SDF also includes the
Euphrates Operations Room, which is said to be an affiliate of the Free Syrian
Army, however, it was accused of using the Free Syrian Army’s name to cover up
for the practices of the People's Protection Units.
Al-Sanadid Forces, a militia
formed by the Arab Shammar tribe to fight against Daesh, is also taking part in
the scene, with more than 500 fighters, with the Syriac Military Council and
Al-Jazirah Brigade.
The SDF has around 30-40 thousand
fighters.
