Arab parliament designates Houthi militias as a terrorist group

The Arab Parliament designated Houthi militias as a
terrorist group, calling on the Arab League and the United Nations to take a
similar step after the group has deliberately targeted civilians and civil
institutions.
The decision was taken at the end of the body’s
fourth general session that was held Wednesday in Cairo under the chairmanship
of Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami. The session was attended by speaker of the
Yemeni Parliament Sultan al-Burkani.
The move was taken in response to a recent terrorist
attack on civil institutions in Saudi Arabia and merchant ships near UAE
territorial waters and the Gulf of Oman.
The Arab Parliament urged the United Nations and its
Security Council to take a decisive and immediate stance to designate Houthi
militias as a terrorist group.
The pan-Arab body also condemned in the strongest
terms the Houthi drone attack on two oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia on
May 14, in addition to targeting the Abha airport on June 12.
In this regard, the parliament expressed full
solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the UAE to preserve the two countries’
security and stability.
