Palestinians: 15 injured in clashes with Israeli police

Palestinian officials say 15 residents have been injured in
overnight clashes with Israeli police in east Jerusalem.
It was the third consecutive night of violence in the east
Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya following the shooting death of a
Palestinian man late Thursday.
Israeli police say 20-year-old Mohammed Obeid had hurled
fireworks at officers and presented a lethal threat when he was shot. But
residents accuse police of using excessive force and shooting Obeid from a very
short distance.
Mohammed Abu Homus, a community leader, say the family is
demanding an autopsy. The family has also asked a court to order the release of
Obeid’s body.
Residents in several Palestinian neighborhoods clashed with
police overnight. The Red Crescent medical service says 15 people were hurt by
rubber bullets fired by police.
