Sudanese envoy to UNHRC: Sudan witnesses real changes towards smooth power transition

Sudan's representative to the Geneva-based UN Human
Rights Council Osama Hemeda said Tuesday that his country is witnessing real
changes toward a smooth transition of power.
In a dialogue with the higher commissioner for human
rights on Sudan during a session by the UNHRC, he pointed out that the military
council in Sudan had affirmed commitment to human rights charters and treaties
Sudan had signed in this respect.
Meanwhile, the Arab group to the council called for
helping all Sudanese parties reach a political settlement paving the way for
achieving the security and stability of the Arab country.
Andrew Gilmour, the UN Assistant Secretary-General
for Human Rights and Head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human
Rights (OHCHR), called for encouraging all Sudanese parties to go ahead with
dialogue, expressing the UN body's readiness to help Sudan protect human rights
and shift to a civilian rule.
