CEMO: Sisi-Macron meeting to further boost ties between Cairo and Paris

Member of the House of Deputies and Director of the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris (CEMO), Abdel Rahim Ali, said Sunday that recent statements by French ambassador in Cairo Stephane Romatet demonstrate the importance his government attaches to relations with Egypt.
"These statements reflect the importance of collaboration between
Cairo and Paris," Ali said in a statement.
Ali's statements came a short time after Romatet
revealed that French President
Emmanuel Macron would receive Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Paris
in August.
He added that France has high hopes for relations with Egypt.
"This was what President Macron said during his meeting with
President Sisi in January in Cairo," Romatet said. "This is what the French president will
say again when he receives President Sisi in Paris in August."
He noted that France has a special interest in enhancing its relations
with Egypt in the fields of education as well as in projects in new cities,
infrastructure projects and energy projects.
Ali expected the meeting between President Sisi and President Macron to
focus on a wide range of regional and international issues, including the
situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen.
He added that talks between the two leaders would most likely focus on
counterterrorism cooperation.
"Terrorism has become a threat to world peace and security,"
Ali said.
The two leaders, he added, would most likely also discuss the Middle
East peace process and bilateral cooperation in all fields.
