Western media discourse in human rights contradictory, Ali says
Journalist Abdul Rahim Ali, head of the
Center for Middle East Studies in Paris inaugurated the Center's monthly
seminar on Saturday at the center's headquarters in Paris on human rights and
attempts by terrorist groups to use them politically in their favor and use
them as a pretext in the Western media to hit the stability of states the
implementation of their terrorist schemes.
In his speech, Ali criticized the contradiction
of the Western media discourse on the issue of human rights.
Ali said: "We are meeting today at
the headquarters of the Center for Middle East Studies in the French capital
Paris on the sidelines of the G7 summit which starts today in Biarritz and will
continue until next Monday.
It will be attended by leaders of the
seven European countries that believe in democracy, freedom and the need for
international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and racial
discrimination.
He added that the conference is held
this year under the slogan of combating "inequalities as a matter of
justice," and as the chair of the group at this session France has
identified five main priorities for discussion:
1. Combating inequalities in destiny
through the promotion of gender equality and access to education and quality
health services.
2. Reduce environmental inequalities
through the protection of the planet thanks to funding for climate activities
and equitable environmental transport focused on biodiversity conservation.
3. To seize the opportunities offered by
the digital field and artificial intelligence in a human-centered manner.
4. To work for peace and combat the
security and terrorist threats that undermine the foundations of our societies.
5. Renew partnership with the African
continent in a more equitable manner.
The seminar is organized on the
sidelines of the G7 summit in Biarritz, a seaside town on the southwestern
French Basque coast. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is attending the
summit for the first time.
Mariam Benrand, a political violence
specialist at the Arab and Islamic World Research and Studies Institute of the
French Ministry of Higher Education, participates in the seminar.
Renowned Middle Eastern affairs specialist
Roland Lombardi is also participating, along with renowned researcher Joachim
Veliocas.
