Daesh
claimed Sunday responsibility for a suicide attack that targeted a number of
Afghan security officials and Taliban members who were celebrating the first
ceasefire between Taliban and the Afghan government in the eastern Afghan
province of Nangarhar on Saturday.
According
to the British newspaper The Guardian, Daesh issued a statement in which
it claimed responsibility for the attack that left 25 people dead.
Following the attack, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said his government would extend indefinitely a week-long ceasefire it signed with Taliban.
Taliban had announced a three-day ceasefire during Eid al-Fitr, the feast that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
