Trial of 32 killers of 8 policemen in Helwan postponed till Wednesday

The Cairo Criminal Court on Monday adjourned till
Wednesday the trial of 32 defendants on charges of killing a police officer and
seven conscripts in Helwan.
Investigations conducted by the prosecution revealed
that the defendants had committed 19 terrorist crimes, as well as armed
robberies, and had sabotaged public property and government buildings.
They had also been accused of premeditated murder
and attacking security checkpoints.
The prosecution accuses the defendants of possessing
unlicensed firearms with the aim of harming security and public order, and
undermining the constitution and national unity.
The defendants also face charges of illegally
possessing and manufacturing explosives and of joining a group that promoted
the ideology of ruler infidelity.
The defendants, who are members of two terrorist
cells in Helwan and Giza, had committed their crimes in the period between 2015
and 2016.
