Grand Imam of Al-Azhar praises Egypt's army and police counter-terrorism efforts
Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb lauded on Friday
efforts and sacrifices of Egypt's Armed Forces and the police in their fight
against terrorism.
In a statement, El-Tayyeb mourned the martyrs of the
Armed Forces, who were killed in raids against terror hotbeds earlier on
Friday.
"Islam and all heavenly religions have nothing
to do with such terrorist groups that deliberately aim to defame Islam's
image", the Grand Imam said.
"All the seized weapons, shown in the Armed
Forces' latest video, should encourage all Egyptians to cooperate with their
army and national institutions to face such threat", he added.
Al-Azhar reiterated its support to the Egyptian
leadership, the Armed Forces and police in their fight against terrorism.
It offered condolences to the martyrs' families, the
Egyptian people and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi over the death of the
soldiers. It also wished recovery for the injured.
