Iraqi security forces fired live bullets to disperse
protesters, who gathered in Baghdad's Tayaran Square on the third day of
anti-government demonstrations, the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) quoted
eyewitnesses as saying on Thursday.
The renewed protests come after Iraqi Prime Minister
Adel Abdul Mahdi announced a decision to impose a full curfew in Baghdad as of
5 a.m. Thursday and until further notice.
A number of people were killed and injured in overnight
clashes between protesters and security forces in Sadr city, east of Baghdad,
the official news agency quoted a security source as saying.
