Trump: It is time to get out of endless wars
US President Donald Trump defended US withdrawal
from northern Syria, saying it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous
endless wars.
"We will fight where it is to our benefit and
only fight to win. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will
now have to figure the situation out, and what they want to do with the
captured [Daesh] fighters in their "neighborhood." he tweeted on
Monday.
US forces had started to withdraw from parts of
northern Syria to make way for a Turkish invasion in the region after Donald
Trump agreed to let Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan launch his long-planned
offensive.
The pull-back of troops comes hours after the White
House announced Ankara would soon move forward with its objective to create a
'safe zone' in northern Syria and that US soldiers will not support or be
involved in it.
