Iraq, Russia discuss regional security challenges, Gulf protection

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim had talks
on Monday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, currently in Baghdad, on
the security challenges besetting the region as well as initiatives for
protecting navigation in the Gulf.
Alhakim underlined the importance of facilitating
the issuance of visas for Iraqi investors to enter Russia, according to the
Iraqi news agency.
Lavrov noted that there are more than 100 Iraqi
diplomats being trained in Russia.
He added that Moscow will put into effect contracts
for sending weapons and military products to Iraq.
