Putin and Macron Talk by Phone and reaffirm support for settling Libyan crisis peacefully

French President Emmanuel Macron, during a phone
call to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, condemned the agreement signed
between Turkey and the Fayez al-Sarraj government regarding maritime borders
and some military agreements.
A statement published by the Elysee about the phone
call between the two leaders stated that Macron stressed that this agreement
will escalate the situation in the region and increase violence, indicating
that the increase in foreign military interventions in the Libyan affairs will
further complicate the situation and escalate the violence as well.
The French President stressed the need to support
the international consensus reached during the Berlin Agreement, stressing the
need to return to the political process under the auspices of the United
Nations.
According to the Elysee statement, the French
President clearly condemned the agreements that were signed between Turkey and
Sarraj regarding the maritime borders and some security files, as well as any
decisions that further escalate the situation. The French President called for
the necessity of returning to the dialogue table between all the Libyan
factions and factions and with the sponsorship of all regional parties
concerned with the Libyan file.
