Daesh claimed responsibility for a bomb
explosion in Basilan in southern Philippines, killing 10 people on Tuesday, the
terrorist group's news agency Amaq said on its Telegram account.
The explosion targeted a vehicle of the
country's security authorities near a checkpoint in Basilan. Founded in 2014, Ansar
al-Khilafah in the Philippines is believed to be behind the explosion.
Although Daesh claimed responsibility for
the attack, Basilan's governor accused al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf terrorist
group, which was founded in 1991, of plotting the explosion.
In July, the Philippines received $26.5
million from the United Sates as part of international efforts to combat terrorism.
