US, UK Agree on Pressuring Iran

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that
denying Iran money and wealth is the right way to force the country in making
difficult decisions.
Pompeo spoke alongside UK’s foreign secretary,
Dominic Raab, during a visit to London on Thursday.
He called on Iran to stop providing support to
militias in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan.
Raab in his turn said: “We want Iran to come back to
compliance on the nuclear deal.”
“We have seen Iran step further and further away
from the norms of the international community, and they must be held to account
for that,” he said.
“I don’t think there is a huge difference between
Europeans and the Americans on wanting to see Iran accept those
responsibilities and come to a broader rapprochement and a broader deal,” he
added.
US President Donald Trump in 2018 pulled out of the
accord, sending tensions soaring with Iran and leading Tehran to curb compliance,
but European powers still back the deal.
