Wang Yi: Beijing does not strive for domination, even if it becomes more and more powerful

Munich - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on
the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference that China
"will continue to support strategic cooperation with Russia."
Yi
added that they also want to improve relations with the United States and hope
that Washington will treat the Chinese model with greater respect.
The Chinese foreign minister added that his
country's system wants to increase cooperation with Europe in environmental
matters and the development of the digital economy, as well as in the
development of the 5G communication network, which was criticized by the US
Secretary of State and Defense this morning in Munich.
Wang Yi stressed that "China will not
seek to copy the Western model," because it is inconsistent with Chinese
traditions. The minister stressed that Beijing is not striving for hegemony,
"even if it becomes more and more powerful". The West should realize
that China will not seek to expand or copy its system elsewhere.
In its 56th session, the Munich Security
Conference is preparing to receive more than about 40 heads of state and
government and about 100 ministers this year, among them US President Trump and
French President Emmanuel Macron.
