UK to remain partner of France – Macron

Munich (The Reference) – French President, Emmanuel Macron, described the UK on Friday as an ally of paramount importance to NATO.
He added on the sidelines of the
Munich Security Forum that the UK had always been part of Europe in the field
of defense.
Macron noted that the partnership
with the UK would continue to be present in the light of agreements between the
European state and other member states of NATO.
We will enhance our relations
with the UK in the light of future agreements, Macron said.
He added, however, that his
country does not trust Russia. He cited alleged Russian interference in the
French elections in 2017 as a reason for the lack of confidence in the country.
Macron said French citizens know
that European sanctions on Russia had not paid off.
Nevertheless, he said, French
citizens do not favor lifting these sanctions.
Macron called for conducting
strategic dialogue with Moscow.
