400 Detainees Break Out of jail… New attempts escape from Muaitika prison

After 400 detainees escaped during a riot on Sunday
at a prison in the southern suburbs of the Libyan capital Tripoli, theatre of a
week of deadly battles, Libyan sources said.
The prisoners broke out of the Muaitika Libyan prison
on September 3, 2018, and guards were helpless to contain the situation, as
they feared for their own lives.
The source added to the “reference”: that the
prisoners have been secured and evacuated to more secure prison, especially
with the arrival of the Halabus battalion, the anti-terrorist battalion Zliten,
and Misrata to cooperate in the protection of the headquarters of the special
deterrence forces.
For his part, Ahmed bin Salem spokesman for the
Special Deterrence Force on his official page on Facebook that the deterrent
forces are still stationed in its headquarters, and did not hand over the
prison of Muaitika, noting the arrival of 300 military vehicles equipment to
the prison and airport of Muaitika.
A statement by the Police read: “The detainees were
able to force open the doors and leave”, just as it noted that guards were
unable to prevent their escape as they feared for their own lives.
The armed forces announced that their entry into the
capital was officially commissioned to protect the prison of Muaitika and to
confront desperate attempts to escape, stressing that they did not intend to
intervene in the war between the fighting factions in Tripoli.
The armed forces of Abdul Raouf Kara announced on
Monday evening that they intend to release the rebels detained in the prison of
Muaitika, especially Sabratha rebels.
Tripoli has been the hotbed of heavy fighting as
armed groups battle for control since the passing of Qadhafi.
