UAE sends 12.4 tons of medical aid to Jordan to combat corona
The
United Arab Emirates has continued its uninterrupted humanitarian role since
the outbreak of the Covid-19 corona virus pandemic, and in this regard it
recently dispatched a plane containing 12.4 tons of medical supplies and
screening devices to Jordan, benefiting over 12,000 health care workers to
support their efforts to counter the virus.
Historical relationship
This
aid, which arrived in Jordan on June 15, comes within the framework of the UAE
leadership’s directives to provide urgent support in the health field to
friendly countries, believing that maintaining health is a priority for
cooperation.
It
also embodies the depth of the brotherly and historical relationship that
unites the two brotherly countries and peoples, as well as Jordanian King
Abdullah II and UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His
Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and
Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Continuous efforts
In
turn, UAE Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ahmed Ali Al-Balushi said
in a statement reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that what unites the
UAE and Jordan is a true brotherly relationship that is firmly established in
all political, economic, social and popular areas, adding that it is a model of
distinguished Arab relations characterized by stability, depth and synergy, as
it is characterized by constructive cooperation in many areas.
The
ambassador said that sending medical aid to Jordan comes from the strong and
distinguished relations and support from the leadership and people of the UAE
for the people of Jordan to contain the corona crisis.
Jordanian
Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Odeh Adaileh emphasized that the
medical equipment and supplies provided by the UAE to the Kingdom come within
the framework of cooperation and exchange of aid between the two brotherly
countries to combat the corona pandemic. He praised the level of high
cooperation and coordination between Jordan and the UAE on various levels.
On
behalf of the government and the Jordanian people, Adaileh thanked the
leadership and people of the UAE for this initiative, which is the embodiment
of the many initiatives that it the UAE has presented over the past decades,
not only to Jordan, but to various countries in the Arab world.
Adaileh
pointed out that the Emirati initiative, which included corona testing devices,
will contribute to helping Jordan expand conducting daily checks in order to
reduce the spread of the virus among citizens.
The
minister praised the UAE’s role in assisting its Arab brothers to combat the pandemic,
hoping that this cooperation will achieve positive results in the Arab world
and internationally.
Fahd
Al-Otaibi, chargé d'affaires of the UAE embassy in Amman, said that the
provision of this medical equipment and supplies comes within the framework of
the Emirati leadership’s keenness to enhance international solidarity to limit
the spread of the corona virus and is based on the distinguished relations and
strategic partnership that unite the two countries.
To date, the UAE has provided more than 935 tons of aid to more than 66 countries, benefiting about 935,000 medical workers.
