At least 22 Syrian army troops were killed on Thursday in two successive blasts in the southwestern Syrian city of Daraa.
The Syrian air force, meanwhile, staged strikes on different neighborhoods in the city, killing 24 civilians at least.
The Syrian army opened two safe passages to help civilians in the city to head to Syrian regime-held areas. It also set up three shelters for city residents displaced by the fighting.
The
army is pursuing a divide-and-conquer strategy against rebels in the south, aiming
to chop up the horseshoe-shaped territory held by the opposition for some time
now.
