Abdel Rahim Ali cautioned against adopting a normalization strategy that trades regional security guarantees for full diplomatic ties with Israel, arguing that such an approach could undermine long-term Arab interests.
Ali said proposals linking protection from Iran to normalization with Israel represent a “strategic trap.” He argued that this normalization strategy risks abandoning key conditions related to Palestinian statehood.
He noted that both Israeli and US narratives increasingly promote this framework as a solution to regional instability.
According to Ali, geopolitical analysis shows that such arrangements could shift the regional balance in favor of Israeli expansion while weakening Arab negotiating power.
He warned that public opposition across Arab societies could intensify if normalization proceeds without addressing core political grievances.
Normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab states have reshaped regional diplomacy in recent years. However, these agreements remain controversial, particularly in relation to the unresolved Palestinian issue.
Ali stressed that adopting a normalization strategy without securing Palestinian rights could trigger widespread political backlash and deepen internal instability across the region.
