100th Arab League conference on Palestinian refugees kicks off
Sunday 29/July/2018 - 06:00 PM

The 100th round of the Conference of Supervisors on
Palestinian Affairs in the host Arab countries kicked off at the premises of
the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday.
The gathering is held in the presence of Arab League
Deputy Secretary General of Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Said
Abu Ali and with the participation of the host countries Egypt, Jordan,
Palestine and Lebanon.
Representatives of the Arab League Educational,
Cultural and Scientific Organization, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and
the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization are also present.
The conference discusses the developments of the
Palestinian issue and serious Israeli violations of the rights of the Palestinian
people, especially as regards the issue of Jerusalem after the decision of US
President Donald Trump to recognize it as Israel's capital.
Subsequent Arab and Islamic movements to counter
this decision, which is contrary to all international resolutions of legitimacy
are also on the agenda.
The gathering will also mull the work of UNRWA and
its financial situation, after another US decision to reduce Washington's
funding of the agency, a step that threatens 5.5 million Palestinian refugees
in the host Arab countries.
